... LiveJournal accounts!

I used to get a new LiveJournal account every year, but somewhere along the way I grew attached to this one in particular. What can I say? I can get rather sentimental about the most unsuspecting things.

But, oh. A lot of things have been happening recently and a lot of the posts in this blog are no longer relevant to my life. It's time for me to turn the page and start a new chapter.

This LiveJournal is still going to be up, but I'm archiving and moving onto a new username and address. If you're still interested in following me on my mild adventures, visit me at [info]littleparacosm .

So long and thanks for all the fish.

Thank you for reading [info]girlsinkhearts ! It's been a blast!

In response to [info]nyappynhu's video: Webcam and Such.

With the sun down, my reply to nyappynhu's adorable video is a bit distorted and very badly lit. I talk (once again, ineloquently) about disney movies, Tangled (2011), house-hunting, coping with my recent break up and how universities really need to get rid of that introduction game in tutorials (really).

Prayers and love to all affected by the horrible disaster in Japan. I hope you're all safe.

I broke up with my boyfriend last night - and before any of you scream "BUT WHY! YOU WERE PERFECT TOGETHER!" or any variation of that, I want you to know that I do not want to hear it. I appreciate the sentiment, but I really don't want sympathy or pity or "to talk about it" or anything like that at all. This is between him and me, and we came to the decision together. Although I am sure everyone is curious (despite the "I don't want to pry" on the tip of your tongue), please respect our privacy and not ask us to explain.

It's been less than twelve hours, so this is still very fresh and raw. I am still incredibly emotional right now; this is going to take a lot of getting used to because, as I'm sure you all know, he is such a fundamental part of my life. Nonetheless, I am going to get used to this and he will too.

For the record, I am okay, he is okay, we are both okay and everything is (unexpectedly) okay. He is still my best friend and as far as I know, I am still his. We are going to get through this - but not as a couple.

This was my first serious relationship; the first time I have been in love with somebody. I am struggling to deal with it, so please give me time to cope.

Thank you for reading. Thank you for your concern. I will see you all when I'm ready.

This video is a reply to [info]nyappynhu's video Say Hello to Cupcake.

In my response to nyappynhu's irresistibly endearing video from last week, I talk briefly (and ineloquently) about fangirling, make up, the riots in Libya, concerts, university and lemons. I have a particularly huge nose today so try not to scream too loudly in surprise; you have been sufficiently warned.

Please post comments on the youtube page :-)!

With the chaos going on in Libya, I haven't been getting much sleep the last couple of nights. I've been staying up with my head in my hands, frustrated and confused as to why nobody was sending them help yet. Geekboy and my dad keep explaining to me the political fragility of the situation and how other countries can't just "rush in", but the horror of it just keeps pounding in my head like an imaginary headache that won't go away/

When [info]sugandha90 asked me if I wanted to see Kisschasy perform at The Roundhouse, I leapt for the oppotunity to not spend my entire night refreshing my twitter homepage.

I'm not a Kisschasy fan (only heard a few songs here and there), but even I have to admit their music is really catchy. They've been MIA on the radio for a while, working on their fourth album and they said they were really excited to be coming back.

Despite the always feverent sweat and heat of the crowded mosh pit, I really enjoyed watching their performance. My favourite song was "This Bed". It was dancey and explosive.

Thank you for inviting me out, [info]sugandha90!

Came home to no new news on Libya's progress, just a heightened death count and a few more videos. I sat online waiting for good news. Fell asleep at the kitchen table.

I'm not a hugely religious person, but this has me praying every spare moment I get.

Half the world is in complete and utter chaos and the other half of the world is sitting around staring vacantly into space, oblivious to what's going on. I don't blame them either - there's been close to no exposure of the massacre happening in Libya on the Australian news until twelve hours ago. I hadn't heard a peep on the radios and the news reports hadn't even acknowledged a situation in Libya or Bahrain.

The front page has been the earthquake in New Zealand for days now. The situation in New Zealand is awful; the number of deaths is close to 100 now, the casualties and damage is painfully incomprehensible.

But the earthquake is a natural disaster and, in-terms of ongoing damage, over. The situation in Libya and Bahrain isn't close to over - it hasn't even begun to end, innocent women are still being raped, unarmed protestors are still being brutally murdered, mass amounts of civilians are being gunned down, any military officer who refuses to take the lives of its people are still being tortured and killed.

I spent all of yesterday morning trying to find a single article on the front page of Sydney Morning Herald and came up empty handed. Thank goodness for twitter, tumblr and the bbc for their endless sources of new information. Twitter and tumblr have been fantastic for spreading awareness. Retweeting and reblogging might seem like small acts, but you'll be surprised at how succesful social networking is at spreading information. While tumblr was days ahead of the issue, twitter didn't take long to catch up - #Libya and #Gadaffi are both trending topics.

This morning, I was so relieved to see the Australian media has finally begun catching on. There are articles popping up on local news websites and I heard them talking about Gadaffi and his crimes on the radio on the way to work.

With 400 dead on the first day, 900 on the second and over 2,000 on the third, this has long stopped being a war - this is mass murder. Gadaffi, having declared war on his own people, has passed the point of madness. Soon there will be no more country left to oppress.

It seems like the only news pouring in is bad, but there is hope. Gadaffi is still in power but one by one, his men are defecting; politicians are stepping down, military personnel are fighting back - joining their fellow people in fighting for freedom.

These people are willing to die for their country's freedom. The least we can do is spread awareness and give Libya and Bahrain our support. Sign petitions. Tell everybody you know. Stand together and join the fight for freedom and peace.

Take thirty seconds out of your time to stop whatever you're doing on the internet and sign this online petition. It only takes a moment and every signature makes a difference.

Yellowshirt member and Loveliest Person in The World award winner [info]sugandha90 invited Geekboy and I to watch a screening of Jurassic Park at UNSW! Free snow cones and popcorn too! Eep!

The venue was changed from open air to indoor the Roundhouse because of the cold/windy/drizzling weather conditions. I didn't mind so much because I find it really hard to hear when watching movies outdoors.

It's been years since I've seen Jurassic Park! I'd forgotten how good (and scary) it is! At many points of the movie, I screamed and flailed. VELOCIRAPTORS ARE SO TERRIFYING! The CGI is truly phenomenal considering how old the movie is. I've seen movies made a lot later with a lot worse CGI.

Had lots of fun! Wish we got to see righteousficus but left because he was tired. Aw!

Do you like Jurassic Park and/or any of its sequels :-)?

On Friday I headed to the city for weekly drinks with Geekboy and his friends. We had dinner at Sushi Tei and dessert at French Riveria before going for drinks. While French Riveria is nothing new to me, I've never eaten at Sushi Tei before so that was rather exciting.

For our entreƩ, Geekboy and I shared this sushi platter for $25. Initially finding it expensive, I later remembered sushi is generally around that price in Sydney. Sydney, I shake my fist at you. Since I can't eat a lot, I only tried the scallop, the tuna and the mayonnaise tuna roll. They were all delicious!

For his main, Geekboy ordered the cold soba. It was $8 and not filling enough as a main, though you can order a soba with a side of chicken for twice the price if you're not ordering an entreƩ.

Since it was so hot that afternoon, I ordered the cold vegetarian hiyashi ramen. Since I love the chicken hiyashi ramen at Ramen Kan, I was interested to see how this would fair. It wasn't sour enough and there was so much egg, but it was alright for a summer dish.

Not bad. Not great.

The family figured it was about time to change iPhone cases since our old ones have been cracked, scratched and thoroughly violated. We ordered a few multicoloured cases off eBay for about a dollar each.

They arrived today so my mum and I broke out my lunchbox of stickers! We sat on the couch for over an hour, sheets of stickers lying everywhere, the both of us enthusiastically shuffling and rummaging through them messily.

I don't understand how people grow out of the appeal of stickers. STICKERS ARE FANTASTIC, MAN! They're cute and pretty and sticky! Love.

Can you guess which is mine and which is my mothers :-)?
